:: How does ibotta work?

That is a question I get a lot, so I wanted to post another tutorial for those of you who haven’t yet started using ibotta. Additionally, they have updated a lot of the features, so you may need to familiarize yourself with these.

How Does ibotta Work?

ibotta is a free smart phone app that lets you earn real money for items you purchase at many store nationwide, including Kroger! As of right now, there is no policy against stacking paper coupons to really maximize your savings!  🙂

How Does ibotta Work?

When you open Ibotta, click on Grocery (or Restaurant or Home Improvement) and choose your store. You’ll see Ibotta Offers in the Product Gallery. Each store will not only include offers that are available everywhere, but will sometimes have store exclusives. Choose a product and complete one or more of the tasks for each offer. The more tasks you complete, the more pending cash you will add to your account. Unlock these earnings by purchasing the product in a selected store.

Offers expire so don’t forget to redeem them before they’re gone!

Tell them your likes and dislikes and you’ll get more personalized offers (do this by clicking on the coupon image and then choosing “not interested in this product”.)

After choosing offers by completing tasks, offers will be added to your Pending list. Buy these items at any of the over 50 retailers where Ibotta works. Be sure to check your favorite stores to find exclusive offers that are only available at select stores.

Ibotta will verify your purchases and send you cash within 24 hours. Depending on the store, there are two ways to verify purchases:

If the store selected shows Redeem in the Product Gallery, take a picture of your receipt and follow the instructions.

If the store is an Ibotta Preferred Partner, it’s even easier – choose Link Account and register your loyalty card or phone number. At checkout, use your loyalty card or phone number, and they’ll handle the rest!

The best part about Ibotta is that you earn real money, not points or other made-up currencies. What you see is what you get. To get your cash, just link your Ibotta account with PayPal, or create a new PayPal account within the App. 100% of your Ibotta earnings can be transferred to PayPal as soon as you’ve earned $5. You can also take advantage of other exciting Cash Out options, which include Gift Cards from iTunes, Redbox, Starbucks and more.

If you’re new to ibotta, you can earn up to $10 in welcome bonuses when you sign up using THIS LINK!

  1. In the past, I was able to buy the item without unlocking the deal first, but recently, I did that, and they turned me down. I think that’s ridiculous. Now, we have to do that with Ibotta, Savingstar, Mobisave….ahhh, it’s just so much to remember!!!

  2. patrice says:

can you redeem an item more than once

  3. I am wanting to learn how to use the Ibota site can anyone explain it to me please.

  4. Kristine Reynolds says:

I also have digital coupons not discounted on my shopping receipt, this week, Hellman’s Mayo and Aqua net. I would not of purchaseed them if I didn’t have a coupons or would have waited for a sale thanks Kristine Reynolds

  5. I got 4 items, will ibotta give me back cash for each item or just the one purchase?

  6. Does this apply to other stores beside Kroger? Such as Giant Eagle or Walmart?

  7. Kroger is not showing up on ibotta.

    • I just came across your question about kroger showing up, I cannot figure out why mine isn’t either, did you ever get an answer to your question? I’m so confused by this; 🙂

  8. Kroger rebates are not, showing up on my ibotta

    • I just came across your question about kroger showing up, I cannot figure out why mine isn’t either, did you ever get an answer to your question? I’m so confused by this; 🙂

  9. karl roger says:

Can someone give a clear expansion of the “fun” tasks we’re expected to waste our time on?

What exactly are these “fun” activities?

How much time do they take?

    Whom do they benefit?

    • Well Roger, the “fun” tasks are for people who enjoy couponing, not for those who are in a rush to get through life or those who don’t see the fun in a bargain; nor is it for those who need to benefit from every task they complete no matter how small…I think you wasted more time on commenting here than you would have had you just clicked out of the site…we are all learning and thats the fun part…they (as in the shopping excursions) take about as much time to fill your gas tank and they benefit the family unit, the individual and the store 🙂

  10. Do I have to use a smart phone?

  11. FYI on the Ibotta expiration dates. Offers expire at 1:59 am on the day of expiration. Make sure you buy and submit before you go to bed the night BEFORE the expiration date.

  12. Torrence says:

Does it work for multiple purchases of the same item? Like I can use 5 paper coupons do I get the ibotta cash back on the five items I get or is it just a one time use? I typically in quantities of 20 or more if its a good deal, I just travel to multiple stores in the Metro area.

  13. Does it work with android tablet also ?

  14. I love Ibotta! I would totally use your link if I was new to it, though 🙂 I’m glad you explained it for newbies…I wish I knew what I was doing at first lol
