:: What is a filler item?
In a Mega Sale situation, you MUST purchase 6 participating items (in this case) to get the additional mega savings of $0.50 per item. So, for example you have a cart full of groceries, but you count only 15 items. A filler item is what you grab to get your item count up to a multiple of 6 so that you can get the mega discount on all of your items. Preferably something very inexpensive that doesn’t require a coupon.

I’m not sure if it’s just my kroger (Columbus), but I only have to purchase the minimum on a mega event and the discount will apply to all participating items on that order, no matter if they’re in multiples of 6 or not. Like I just bought 26 participating items and got the .50 off all of them. And I’ve had this happen every time for a while and no issues. Does this happen to anyone else? Because if it does that takes away a lot of stress and time for planning and could help a lot of newbies.

The grocery bag is genius! My list this week includes 96 items…will totally use this strategy! I was actually dreading AND excited about this weeks sale LOL.

Pamela mentioned that the Louisville region Kroger ads will start on Wednesdays instead of Sundays beginning Feb. 5. Is this true? How do we find out?
I live in Lexington KY also and when I pulled up the ad online from Kroger.com it also says that on the top of my weekly sales ad. I am glad that I read this site I had no idea!
I do the reusable bag idea, also. It works great!! I use with all the mega event sales. Thank you so much. Thank you so much for your hard work. I don’t know what I will do without you. Also, starting on February 5, 2014 the Lousiville region Kroger ads will start on Wednesday instead of Sunday. I live in Lexington, KY.

the reusable bag idea if fantastic! I used to get so messed up trying to keep track and count and say “is that in the sale? yes? no? where’s the ad? ugh.. (walking back to the aisle)” now I put it in a bag and close the bag when I have six. So much easier!!
Sometimes I will put two of the shopping baskets on the bottom of the cart to use for mega sales. Also, the little space of cart under the seat is useful for that or for items that you have to do as separate transaction due to too many coupons or catalina deals.

Lori….if you take your receipt in and grab two more mega event items, customer service is usually nice about adjusting it for you.
I wasn’t paying attention today that this sale is for SIX items instead of the usual five, so I somehow managed to end up with three mega sale items that didn’t ring up at the sale price. I hate when that happens. Grrrrrrrr ….
