That’s a great price considering these are regularly priced at $5.49! These will be located in the Health & Beauty section.
A mega event is a promotion that Kroger does several times a year. Unlike typical 10 for $10 sales, you MUST purchase the quantity of items specified in that particular promo in order to receive the mega sale discount. For example, “Buy 5 participating items, Get $5 off instantly”. You must purchase in increments of 5 in order to receive the additional $1 off per item. You can mix and match these items and receive the discount as long as you purchase in multiples of 5 in the same transaction. All FIVE items do NOT have to be the same. MIX and MATCH!
You CAN use coupons along with Mega Event pricing. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
Here’s what the ad will look like. When you see this, start to get really excited because you’re about to save a LOT of money! 😍 The ad will outline the price BEFORE mega sale discount, and also after. I always just pay attention to the bottom number.
Not all participating mega sale items will be advertised in the Kroger Weekly Ad. There are always HUNDREDS more items that will just be identified by in-store signage, so be on the lookout for those mega sale tags! We always put together a full inclusion list based on what we find in-store as well, so stay close!
Here is an example of a mega event sale tag. Notice there is a “sale price” of $1.99, and then a 2nd price of $0.99 if you purchase 5 participating items.
The mega discount will come off immediately at checkout when the item is scanned. If it is ringing up correctly as a participating mega item, it will be marked on the receipt with a < + symbol.
Since it’s very important to keep track of how many mega items you are purchasing so that you don’t miss out on the extra discount, you’ll need a system. There are many ways to keep track of your mega items, but I’ll give you a few tips.
In a Mega Event Event situation, you MUST purchase 5 participating items (for example) to get the additional $5 mega savings ($1 per item). So, for example you have a cart full of groceries, but you count only 9 mega items. A filler item is what you grab to get your item count up to a multiple of 5 so that you can get the mega discount on all of your items. Preferably something very inexpensive that doesn’t require a coupon, because if you had a coupon – it’s probably already in your cart! We provide a list of our favorite filler items for every mega event.
Do what works for you…just make sure you keep track! You do NOT want to get through checkout just to realize you counted wrong. If this DOES happen, you have a couple of options.
In the past, sometimes there were limits to how many mega items you can purchase in the same transaction, but we have not seen that in YEARS. If they do decide to implement this again, you will see it advertised in the ad or on the sale tags.

Here are what I consider to be the Kroger Must-Do Deals starting 12/30 (or 1/2 – check your ad to verify when yours begins this week). My matchups are based on the Great Lakes/Columbus region, so be sure to check your ad for slight price variations and sale dates.

My Kroger deals are based on the ad for Ohio (Great Lakes/Columbus Region). The ad week starts on Monday (but check your ad for sale dates). Kroger doubling policies vary from store to store, so the math will reflect up to and including $0.50, and also up to and including $0.99 in { }. If an item is priced 10/$10 (for example), you do not have to purchase 2 items to receive the $1.00 each price unless otherwise noted (like when part of a mega sale). Check your local store for policy. Pricing varies by region, so check your ad for slight discrepancies.
This week’s sale cycle begins on Sunday for most of you, but doesn’t start until Wednesday for others. Check your ad to verify when yours begins.
